Reading

Bug Club 

​

All children have access to the online Bug Club library. Here they will find books that have been specifically allocated to them based on their reading ability and interests. Bug Club’s online reading world aims to help children improve their reading skills at school or home with exciting eBooks and rewards and has been designed to motivate children so that they get the most out of reading each book and want to read more.

Writing

Spellings

​

All children at Harper Bell have been put in a spelling group according to their ability. Each week they must learn their spellings before sitting a test at school each Friday afternoon. Children who get 13 or more spellings correct during their weekly test are moved up to the next group.

Maths

Maths Whizz

Math-Whizz is an online virtual maths tutor that caters to your child’s unique ability – helping them reach their true potential and preparing them for success in school. The Math-Whizz Tutor recognizes if your child doesn’t understand a concept, and uses a different lesson to bring that understanding across in a supportive and fun environment. You can stay one step ahead by viewing the lessons that your child is struggling with, as well as lessons that they will be working on next.

Tunes Times Tables

At Harper Bell, our children are taught their times tables in a fun and innovative way through rap and music. Mr NK works alongside our children on a weekly basis. Children love it because he makes times tables easier to understand through the power of music, rhyme and performance poetry. Children should be encouraged to practise their times tables each night at home, while driving to school, when walking the dog or at any time when they're bored and have a spare moment!
