Pupil Leadership - A More Excellent Way
At Harper Bell Seventh- day Adventist School, we believe every child has the potential to lead, serve and make a positive difference. Our pupil leadership programme is an important part of our personal development offer, giving children meaningful opportunities to develop confidence, responsibility, teamwork, communication and leadership skills while helping to shape the life of our school.
Through our Faith, Wellbeing, Representation, Events Promotion, Reading, Sport & Health, Digital & Communication and Sustainability Teams, pupils are encouraged to use their individual gifts and talents in service to others. From promoting reading and healthy lifestyles to supporting wellbeing, sharing pupil voice, caring for God's creation and strengthening our Christian ethos, our young leaders take an active role in making Harper Bell an even better place to learn and grow.
These roles give our pupils a genuine voice, real responsibility and valuable experiences that prepare them for life beyond the classroom. Through leadership and service, we want our children to understand that they can influence positive change within their school, their community and the wider world.
At Harper Bell, we are empowering our pupils to follow and to lead "A more excellent way."
Junior Leadership
At Harper Bell SDA Primary School, we believe every pupil should have opportunities to lead, serve and Make a Difference.
Our Junior Leadership Team gives pupils an active role in school life. Through meaningful leadership responsibilities, pupils learn to represent others, listen carefully, communicate confidently, work as a team and contribute positively to our school community.
Pupil leadership is rooted in the Harper Bell Way and our Christian values. Leaders are encouraged to be positive role models who demonstrate kindness, responsibility, courage and service to others.
Our Junior Leadership Structure
Head Boy & Head Girl
Our Head Pupils are the most senior pupil representatives in school. They act as ambassadors for Harper Bell, represent the pupil body, support important school events and help to promote our values and expectations.
Deputy Head Boys & Deputy Head Girls
Our Deputy Head Pupils work alongside the Head Boy and Head Girl. They help to gather pupil views, support whole-school initiatives and take an active role in improving school life.
House Captains
Each of our four houses is represented by pupil House Captains. They encourage participation, celebrate success, promote teamwork and help pupils across the school develop a strong sense of belonging.
Together, our Head Pupils, Deputy Head Pupils and House Captains form a visible pupil leadership team that helps ensure pupil voice leads to pupil action.
Our Houses
Every pupil belongs to one of four Harper Bell houses. Our house system strengthens relationships across year groups and provides further opportunities for teamwork, service, healthy competition, collaboration and celebration.

Developing Leaders for the Future
Pupil leadership is an important part of Personal Development at Harper Bell. It gives children genuine responsibility while developing confidence, character, communication, teamwork and an understanding of service.
Leadership is not simply about holding a title. We want our pupils to understand that strong leaders listen, act responsibly, encourage others and use their influence for good.
Through our Junior Leadership Team and wider leadership opportunities, pupils are empowered to have a voice, make a difference and live out our aspiration to:
Lead. Serve. Make a Difference.
