Ofsted Monitoring Visit 2026 - A School Transformed
A New Chapter for Harper Bell
At Harper Bell Seventh-day Adventist School, we believe every child deserves an exceptional education, strong Christian values and the opportunity to flourish in every aspect of their life.
Our recent Ofsted Monitoring Visit recognised the remarkable progress that is taking place across our school and confirms what our pupils, staff and families experience every day: Harper Bell is changing rapidly and positively.
Inspectors recognised that leaders have secured "rapid and visible improvements", strengthening the school's capacity to improve and creating firm foundations for long-term success. This recognition reflects the dedication, commitment and shared ambition of our entire school community.
Today, Harper Bell is a school with a renewed sense of purpose, high expectations and a clear vision for the future.
Transforming Leadership, Transforming Lives
Strong schools are built on strong leadership.
Since the previous inspection, a new leadership team, supported by an Interim Executive Board, has brought clarity, stability and direction to every aspect of school life. Together, we have established a culture where every decision is driven by one question:
"How can we provide the very best opportunities for our children?"
This clear vision is helping staff work together with confidence, consistency and a relentless focus on securing the best possible outcomes for every pupil.
An Ambitious Curriculum for Every Child
One of the most significant changes has been the complete redesign of our curriculum.
Our curriculum now carefully maps the knowledge, skills and understanding children need to become successful learners and confident young people. Learning is thoughtfully sequenced so that pupils build strong foundations, deepen their understanding and remember more over time.
Children are now experiencing a richer, more ambitious educational journey that prepares them not only for their next stage of education but for life beyond the classroom.
High-Quality Teaching in Every Classroom
Exceptional teaching changes lives.
We have invested heavily in professional development, coaching and staff training to ensure every child benefits from consistently high-quality teaching.
Inspectors recognised that professional learning is now central to the school's work. Staff collaborate, learn from one another and continually refine their practice so that pupils receive the very best learning experiences every day.
A Calm, Purposeful Environment Where Children Thrive
Visitors to Harper Bell immediately notice the difference.
Classrooms are calm, focused and purposeful. Expectations are high and relationships are strong. Pupils know that they are valued, supported and challenged to achieve their best.
The routines and learning behaviours now established across the school help pupils feel safe, confident and ready to learn. As a result, children are becoming increasingly engaged, resilient and proud of their achievements.
Inclusion at the Heart of Everything We Do
Every child matters at Harper Bell.
Significant improvements have been made to ensure that pupils with special educational needs and disabilities, disadvantaged pupils and vulnerable learners receive the support they need to succeed.
Our strengthened SEND provision, enhanced family partnerships and personalised support systems are helping more children access learning successfully and develop confidence in their abilities.
We are committed to ensuring that every child is known, valued and empowered to achieve their God-given potential.
Rising Achievement and Growing Aspirations
The impact of these improvements is already being seen.
Inspectors recognised that achievement is improving, with more pupils reaching expected standards and making stronger progress across reading, writing and mathematics.
While we know there is still more to do, the trajectory is clear. Standards are rising, aspirations are growing and pupils are increasingly equipped with the knowledge, skills and confidence they need for future success.
Rooted in Faith. Reaching for Excellence.
At the heart of Harper Bell is our Seventh-day Adventist faith.
Our Christian values shape our relationships, our culture and our commitment to developing the whole child-academically, socially, emotionally, physically and spiritually.
We want every child to know they are loved by God, valued by their community and capable of making a positive difference in the world.
As we continue our improvement journey, our mission remains simple:
To provide an outstanding Adventist education that inspires every child to learn, serve, lead and flourish.
The Future is Bright
Ofsted recognised that the foundations for sustained improvement are firmly in place.
We are proud of how far Harper Bell has come in a short period of time, but we are even more excited about where we are going next.
