At Harper Bell, our curriculum sets out what we want pupils to know, understand and be able to do. Our approach to teaching and learning focuses on the equally important question: how do we ensure that what is taught is genuinely learned?
Our teaching is informed by educational research, cognitive science and evidence-informed classroom practice. We carefully consider how pupils build knowledge, how learning is remembered, how teachers identify misconceptions and how every child is supported to think, participate and succeed.
Our aim is not simply for pupils to experience excellent lessons. We want learning to remain with them, connect with what they already know and become increasingly independent, flexible and powerful.
