Science at Harper Bell is taught using the Kapow Primary curriculum, ensuring clear progression from the Early Years through to Key Stage 2. In EYFS, children develop curiosity about the world through exploration, observation and talk, laying the foundations for scientific thinking. In Key Stage 1, pupils build scientific knowledge and understanding by learning key concepts, addressing common misconceptions and developing subject‑specific vocabulary. This is deepened further in Key Stage 2, where pupils apply and extend their understanding with increasing independence and precision. Across the school, children learn to work scientifically through a range of enquiry types, including observing over time, pattern seeking, classifying and grouping, fair testing and research using secondary sources. Pupils also explore science in action by learning about significant scientists, how scientific understanding has changed over time and the careers science can lead to.

Our science curriculum reflects the belief that "The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands" (Psalm 19:1), inspiring pupils to question, investigate and marvel at the world around them.
